Hi folks, There was a great gathering at Paige's tonight. - How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
- Talking with folks in my town about starting the process - inviting participation of local community. I'm a beginner, just finished my first permaculture design course!! and the Transition handbook!! Yay!!!!
- In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
- We need a better society, one which nurtures whole, healthy kids into whole healthy responsible adults. One piece of that is restructuring our society, so that more decision-making rests locally, with individuals, neighborhoods, towns and counties and fewer decisions are top-down, one-size-fits-all from the state and federal levels.
Then there's peak oil and climate change!!!!!
- How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
- I have the time and ability to plug in to where the need is, within the range of my gifts. I can be a speaker, facilitator, gardener, designer. I'm not the research, science translator. I am drawn to food security and cultural change.

I have heard, that the Pelham group has met once, and they are thinking to do it together with the Amherst people. I am working together with one member of that group, to get her on the bike. I just ordered an electric bike for that (I found a great price for $240 - there are some marvelous deals out there when companies are collapsing!). And I am working on setting up a Neighborhood Bicycle Resource Center. Only slightly related activities, but it seems, that the reachout part of the movement is challenging for me.

Something that can benefit every group. I also had a few things I wanted to add, but when I tried that was when I realized it isn't possible to leave notes on other Groups pages.
