Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I have taken the "Training for Transition" course (Nov 22-23, Cambridge, MA, USA) and am looking to get a reading group started in my community to spur on a initiating group for a Transition Initiative in the Hamilton-Wenham community (Hamilton, Massachusetts, USA)
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I have been grappling with addressing both oil dependency and climate change for some time. I am attracted to Transition because it clearly recognizes both of these issues together. Additionally, the concept of creating resilient communities and visioning of your community as a resilient community in the future feels right on to me. I am excited by the sheer number of other people who are also attracted to Transition and expect that the momentum and creative genius of these people will lead to vibrant, resilient communities of the future.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
- Helping to initiate a Transition Initiative in my community.
- To contribute Transition's success by leveraging my experience with Carbonrally.com as well as my 20+ years of information technology, knowledge management, and product/project management expertise.

Hello Stan,

Thanks for getting in touch with me. I couldn't agree more that this is going to be an enduring process with lots of information to digest. Having been familiar with the basic principles for quite some time now I find it exciting and engaging to see so many ready to undertake the process. I was just telling someone the other day that what I liked best about the initiative is how everything is put together in a nice package in order to implement step by step. Almost like connecting the dots. I appreciate the clarification on both 'initiating groups' and your input on the training events. I have just received my copy of the handbook and starting reading last evening. It looks as though I have decided to move forward with the Vermont training in March. At least, thats my intention at the moment. We'll see if it pans out. I like the idea of having the possibility of a Mass Training event as a back up as Im sure others will be as well.

Thanks again for saying hello and passing on the info and look forward to meeting you sometime, as I'm sure that many points of each community's initiative will overlap with others. Look forward to crossing paths with HW and other members of your group.

Hello Stan. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am part of a start up group in Newburyport. A couple of people have mentioned your name regarding the training seminar. Lots of info to process as we move forward here . I see you were part of the training event in Cambridge last Nov. Can you give me an update, if any, on any or all possibilities of having a North Shore Training event being put together anytime soon? Thanks. Good luck with your WH venture and look forward to our paths crossing at some other point. Regards,
John Brown - TN

Hi Stan,

Thanks for the greeting and invitation to your presentation. I'd like to attend and see what else is going on in Hamilton/Wenham. I'm not aware of any of this type of activity in Ipswich, though it seems ripe.

I'm trying to start a Permaculture Meetup group in the area. It could provide a good launching spot for a Transition group. I should have taken the Transition Training Course that you attended. Maybe I can learn enough by reading the entire handbook and observing your group to gain the confidence to Initiate things in Ipswich.

Hope to see you this evening!

Charlotte
