Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Sustainable Woodstock is a nonprofit community action group focused on encouraging local residents and communities to make environmental, economic and socially responsible practices part of their daily lives.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Our initiatives range from energy and trash to economic development, and include such projects as establishing a local Economic Development Commission and a Property Assessed Clean Energy district. We are assisting the village of Woodstock with implementing public recycling and replacing the village snow dump with a park. We run community gardens in four locations and at the Riverside Mobile Home Park. Recently we administered the Woodstock Area Flood Relief Fund that raised over $425,000 and helped 120 families in need following TS Irene.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
We are an active partner in many community projects and our board is starting a new initiative to analyze of climate gas output in our community and use it as a benchmark to set measurable goals.
