Transitioner Communications Using Skype

Skype is the official phone and conference calling tool for the Transition social networks.
  • Install Skype -- Free calls and conference calls for skype-to-skype users. Set up LSquiresSkype as a Contact and call me with questions about Transition. I'll help you set up conference calls with your initiators, friends, family, committees, workgroups and virtual special interest groups. Communication is my passion and my contribution to Transitioners.
  • Skype calls to landlines and cell phones -- Need to call non-Skype phones? Set up a pre-paid account. Call me if you have questions how pre-paids differ from skype-to-skype free accounts. Very handy when I was 4 months in India last year and called clients back in the U.S. at 2.1 cents a minute. This is how Skype can afford to give free service to skype-to-skype users. Call me at LSquiresSkype if you have further questions.

Sounds like you have a good handle on sustainability. With 300 days a year of sun in Denver I'm envious of you as I look out the window at the third day of rain in a row here in Western Massachusetts.

Thank you so much for your insight! I have already reached out to a few fellow students here at Clark to see how we can make this more visible and get some students passionate about it. In the meantime, I'm trying to educate myself as much as my limited amount of time allows for, on what the whole transition towns movement is all about.

Any sites other than this one that you recommend?

hi, Les. No, that's not me. I've lived in western Mass for 30 years, never lived in Boston.

Transition MA, Transition USA, http://www.nefood.org/ all use NING.

Any way to post "MY PAGE" info to all sites at the same time?

Thanks - How far along along are you in the process. I just downloaded and read Transition Initiatives Primer which gave a good overview. I made a few copies and will pass it around to a few friends in Ipswich to see what they think.Of course, Ipswich and newyport are VERY close so it may be possible to think of something in tandem. In fact, when my wife and I go to the "city", we go to newburyport and espeically the screeningroom. We live with a lovely gang of animals on a small farm-like setting.

Thanks, Les. I will be on the road next week, with only sporadic web access. Once back, I intend to launch a campaign to encourage more interaction (for those who want that). Don't hesitate to pass along any advice you think would be useful from other states' sites.
