Edilbe Wild Plant Walk at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm

A free edible wild plants walk with naturalist John Root will be offered at 5:30 PM on Thursday, September 16 at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm, 5 Little’s Lane in Newbury. Wild food samples will be available, and pamphlets will be distributed to participants. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Newbury Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
My husband & I are initiating members of Transition Newburyport.

Unofficially my husband and I are making our own effort to work locally, eat locally grown food, support local businesses/farmers/craftspeople, etc.
Also I have taught people (of all ages) to sew, embroider and knit.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I appreciate the re-localization, re-skilling, return to a resilient community and to local food that Transition espouses. Helping our community see Transition's benefits and then implementing these changes (as a community) is why I am participating. .
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
As a member of the Newburyport community I have advocated for CSAs, the Farmer's Market, and I bring Transition to the attention of my customers, CSA members, and family. I will continue to advocate for Transition, the strengthening of local economy, eating locally, etc.

Greetings Kirsten, Great to see you here. ...As a member of the Newburyport community I have advocated for CSAs, the Farmer's Market, and I have now been bringing Transition to the attention of my customers, CSA members, and family. I will continue to advocate for Transition, the strengthening of local economy, eating locally, etc.... -- Perfect! Please make sure that Newburyport is listed in our Group directory.
