Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I have long been taking steps at the household level for years (Riot for Austerity, large vegetable garden, beekeeping, etc.). I attended a fabulous Training for Transition workshop with Tina Clarke in Boston, in November 2009. I tried to find Transition Initiators in my community, Wayland, MA, without success. This time I'm going full out to find them. April 2011 is going to be TRANSITION WAYLAND month! Join the group for updates.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
If it is just my family growing food, consuming less, etc., we won't make a difference. I am keenly aware of the need to transition as a community. I think it is the only model out there for us, ordinary people, to address the predicaments of our time and to prepare for what's coming. Also, I love the sense of place that Transition fosters. Also, there is now lots of experience there, accessible on the net and in books to learn from: examples of others like me who are doing it, have tested it.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
Each and every Initiative is a beacon. So, to answer the question: By starting a Transition Initiative.

I blog elsewhere

Hi,
I blog at MamaStories, at http://blog.bolandbol.com
It's a mixed bag, mostly stories of gardening, mothering, and peak oil/global warming. I may once in a while cross post a relevant entry here.

Even high security websites get hacked. We've had our credit card numbers stolen in mass hackings from banks and stores several times. Why do you need birthdates?

Hi Katrien, thanks for the good wishes about Grow Food Northampton. If you had told me a year ago that we would have come so far, so fast, I wouldn't have believed it! Best wishes for all of your efforts in Wayland.

Dear Katrien,

Congratulations re: Transition Wayland. Sounds exciting!

Steve and I gathered an initiating group of 7 last February and went "public" in Sept. 2010. Check out our website: www.transitionkeene.org. We are constantly being inspired by Paul LaVasseur and Transition Putney and regularly attend their events.

SO much has happened - I would love to catch up. I'm about to leave town for a few days. Perhaps we can have a phone call next week... my email is katylocke@myfairpoint.net if you would like to suggest a good time to chat.

All my best, Katy

Hi Katrien,
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your friend request--a lot is going on in my life (mostly good:). I've started a community garden group in Framingham that meets once a month & the next meeting is 3/1/10-would you like to come or be on my contact list?
Would love to chat sometime--Marion

Hey Katrien,

I am a very lucky girl! You look like one too! I hope your daughter has kicked the flu. I had it a few weeks back - no fun! Let me know if you are ever coming up Newburyport way!
