Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I'm interested in helping out any way I can.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I love that it's proactive and not reactive. I like that it seeks to include the whole community and develop the community into a group of people that actually talk to each other.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I work locally in town, and talk to a lot of people everyday. I would like to start helping with the awareness raising stage. I also have an interest in farming (both for food and medicine), and traditional crafts, and I hope down the road I can both teach and learn skills related to these interests.
Your Favorite Groups/Books/Websites/Blogs/RSS Feeds for Information about the Transition Movement
The Transition Handbook, Rob Hopkins (the suggested reading section is great at the end of this book)
The Long Emergency, James Howard Kunstler (not as positive as Transition, but this book really opened my eyes to the peak oil, climate change double whammy)

Hi Justin -

Since you are interested in traditional crafts I wonder if you might have any interest in helping us with an awareness-raising project in October. We have applied to do an awareness-raising scarecrow for the annual Chamber scarecrow contest to be placed on a street lamp downtown. We have been brainstorming themes such as a scarecrow made totally fossil free - a scarecrow with tags identifying all fossil fuels inputs - etc .... so we need help with coming up with the final concept as well as constructing it. Any interest?

Hi Justin,

Welcome to the Transition Massachusetts Ning site. You will no doubt also want to join the Transition Newburyport group on this site.

I like your appreciation of the community focus in Transition. If your schedule permits, I think you would greatly enjoy the film being shown one week from today. I hope to meet you there.

Please read my post in the Forum area with instructions about how to most easily follow discussions on the Forum. You can find that post yourself in the Forum, under the title "Let's Strengthen our Transition Massachusetts community," or click here to view that post directly. Implementing the simple changes described will make it easier to stay connected with developing conversations on this site. Those conversations nurture our growing statewide Transition community.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Conrad
