Horses available for adoption at MSPCA in Methuen

Hi all - the Boston Globe ran an article today about the alarming increase in the number of surrendered horses at the MSPCA facility in Methuen MA. They are out of room, and people are giving up horses left and right (although not quite as bad yet as it is in Ireland) - if anyone can provide a home to one or more, go to www.mspca.org/nevins for details (reference from today's Globe), and PASS IT ON to anyone in other states - surely…See More

Looking for transition-friendly financial planner in New England

Hi all, I'm increasingly aware of my complete ignorance when it comes to making sense of finances and planning for an extremely uncertain future. I've been looking around recently to see if there is some way of identifying a fee-based financial planner who is aware of the implications of peak oil, climate change, etc, and not a BAU person. So far I have come up with nothing. Do any of you in existing initiatives know of anyone who meets these criteria? Any ideas? If you know of someone, can you…See More

Hello again Judith,
Thank you for that great reminder of Hubbardston and the NOFA presence of folks there. I will positively post there for any video showings or other presentations down the line. Also, it would be helpful to have any contact people for that area that I might do mailings to as well... if you know anyone in particular. I feel fairly confident with Chris's analysis and presentation. I have viewed Crash Course a couple of times now. In fact, I have ordered a copy for a later showing in the Gardner area. Hopefully Gardner will prove to have some open minds who will come out to investigate the various videos and such. Will keep you in mind for a "meeting of the minds" over coffee, should I be in your area. Keep me posted. -- Den M.

Hello Judith!

How are you? I presume you enjoyed the Chris Martenson presentation. I trained with Tina a while ago at Montague, but as of now, in Gardne,r it is basically just me muddling forward with trying to formulate awareness-raising means to gain anyone's interest. I have a good handful of videos ready to show to the public here... The End of Suburbia, etc. And how are you doing with your process in Holden? Perhaps we'll meet at some point. Do drop me a line. Ciao!

Hi Judith,

Sorry it has taken me so long to write back. I would love to meet you some time. My friend Steven, Nicole, and I are very interested in getting this TT Worcester off the ground. I am a senior at Clark and am graduating in May. But I am very interested and excited to help get TT Worcester off the ground!

Hope you are well, I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Judith. Thanks, glad to be here. I do get into Worcester occasionally. It'd be great to meet sometime. I was reading about your community farm idea. Sounds GREAT! I hope you get a lot of interest.

Lets show Chris Martensen's Crash Course somewhere between Holden and Petersham. It is about 2 hours long and really persuasive with no "talking heads." We can buy a copy for $10 and then have it reproduced. If we assembled a group of a few people from each town and gave them each a copy we could help it "go viral" which is what Chris is trying to do. I think that they are already doing that in the Pioneer Valley.
