Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
My partner and I are just getting interested in the movement. We hope to eventually start a transition group in our town and connect with others in our area who are interested.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I am concerned about both climate change and peak oil and would like to find ways to help communities - and ourselves! - develop ways to face the coming transitions with as much grace, safety, security, and joy as possible.
Suggestions you have for improving our Registration questions -- getting to know you better.
It would be helpful to know what aspects of this registration are shared and how - probably I would want to answer these in more detail after I explore the site and decide my level of involvement. I wish a phone number was not required, as I have experiences where "private" information is accidentally released.

Hi Elizabeth, I'm very happy that you are interested in the Transition Movement. I'm working with residents and organizations of the South coast of Massachusetts to raise awareness of the Transition Town movement in our region. I would love to connect with you and learn more about your community. I just read in the newspaper that Lakeville officially received the tittle of "Green Community". Congratulations!!! Would you be interested in joining us? We are know organizing an event for the winter and we would love to have someone from Lakeville involved. Have a great week! Rita Couto

Hi Elizabeth,

Welcome to the Transition Massachusetts networking and information site. It would be wonderful to see a Transition initiative develop in your part of state. Whenever you are ready, please feel free to establish a new group on this site as a gathering place for your colleagues. I will be delighted to help in any way possible.

Another great benefit of membership on this site is the exchange of ideas found in the Forum. As site administrator I encourage everyone to follow these discussions and to participate. To learn how to most easily follow discussions on the Forum, please read my post (in the Forum) titled "Let's Strengthen our Transition Massachusetts community." Click here to view that post directly. Implementing the simple changes described will make it easier to follow and participate in the conversations on this site.

Since you joined after May 24th, you did not receive my notice to all site members about this new and important discussion on the Forum, regarding the future of this site. Please read carefully and join the discussion.

Finally, I can assure you that registration information will never be abused. As you can see, your answers displayed above as Profile Information give others a sense of your interests, skills and concerns. You and only you can edit your profile whenever you like. The Registration questions were set up before I became the administrator here. Eventually we will likely refine them. I have seen several instances where the required phone number was in fact a good screen for deflecting 'spamming' applications.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Conrad
