Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
About to take the Transition Training in Montague, MA, U.S.A. on May 15 & 16. Have been studying Rob Hopkins' The Transition Handbook, viewed the video "In Transition", and reading the Transition Primer. Have also seen the documentary The End of Suburbia.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
While my life has been continuously devoted to inner inquiry into mankind's growing forms of disorder in, for lack of a better word, the spiritual realm, I have felt a growing need or urgency to compliment that aspect with concrete application of my communicating and sharing ability in helping make more people aware of this movement, the Peak Oil Crisis, and Climate Change.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I feel that once equipped with an adequate amount of knowledge and information combined with a way of inspiring people, that I will be an effective facilitator and awareness enhancer. I'm not sure of the fine details of where I fit in, only that I want to be a part.
Your Favorite Groups/Books/Websites/Blogs/RSS Feeds for Information about the Transition Movement
Up to this time I have been seeking out the information on my own through books, websites, and videos That is why I have jumped at this oppotunity to take the training.
I am very grateful for Rob Hopkins' books and other published matter, as well as Richard Heinberg's work. I have, some time ago now, viewed the Post Carbon Institute's web material as well.

The Brew Moon is one of my favorite haunts!

Well, it sounds like you're further ahead than I am here. I have two people who are interested in TT here, but both are too busy with work and kids to "do" anything at this point. I'd suggest that if you want a good place to start off showing films, you might think about Hubbardston. There is a lot of good energy there, a lot of NOFA members, and they even passed the CPA there, one of the very few towns in the county to do so. If you have any events in Gardner, make sure you put up flyers in Hubbardston, too.

Let me know if you're passing through on your way to anywhere, we can meet for coffee on route 122A somewhere.

I liked the Martenson talk, but I didn't have time to stay for the questions. I was already pretty familiar with everything he said from my reading of his site (I'm not a member, just a free reader.) What did you think?

Hi Dennis,

Welcome to the Transition Massachusetts networking and information site. You have already found many fundamental information sources for Transition work, and your T4T training this past weekend with Tina and Alastair will have given you more inspiration. I trust you will soon put your knowledge and interest to effective use in your community.

Although there is not yet a group here for your local town (you could always establish one if that seems appropriate — ask for help if you don't see how), as a resident of the Pioneer Valley, you may want to join the Transition Pioneer Valley group on this site.

Another great benefit of membership on this statewide site is the exchange of ideas found in the Forum. As site administrator I encourage everyone to follow these discussions and to participate. To learn how to most easily follow discussions on the Forum, please read my post (in the Forum) titled "Let's Strengthen our Transition Massachusetts community." Click here to view that post directly. Implementing the simple changes described will make it easier to follow and participate in the conversations on this site.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Conrad
