Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
The cluster of Transition ideas informs my life on a deliberate and not so deliberate level every day. I participated in the Transition Training a few months ago. TT reassembled some of my existing thoughts about the cultural period we are leaving and the one we are entering. We are in a remarkable period; how it will all unfold will be up to us to some extent.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Transition thinking makes sense and is eminently practical and empowering. It provides a forum and forms to get things accomplished. In my opinion, on-the-ground and in-the-ground projects have the greatest impact and are the most inspiring to people. I have noticed that when people begin to become aware of their own potential and the potential of community ACTION, they also begin to incorporate and manifest more positive energy in their lives.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
Perhaps I can help by making those outside of the current circle of Transition advocates, aware of the movement --- aware of its necessity and aware of its potentials and aware of its accomplishments.

I have been trained as a landscape architect, have some experience with permaculture, and did some farming for a few years. And, I love to cook, without a net.
Your Favorite Groups/Books/Websites/Blogs/RSS Feeds for Information about the Transition Movement
I don't concentrate my attention on the "transition movement". It is imperative to be aware of the shifting currents of thought and activities everywhere. Good ideas can come from the most unlikely sources. I think some of the most important sources of information are Global Guerrillas (John Robb's website), the Oil Drum, James Kunstler, Christopher Alexander, and the newspapers of other countries. Currently reading The Black Swan... a necessary intellectual experience.

Hi David -

Thanks for being part of the Farm for the Future event and for joining Transition Newburyport. You seem to have been deeply immersed in studying and thinking about the issues we are dealing with. We welcome your input as we move forward.

Hi David,

Welcome to Transition Massachusetts, and thanks for your thoughtful profile information. Interaction with others involved in Transition is always energizing.

I recently assumed admin duties on this site, and posted instructions about how to most easily follow discussions on the site. The instructions are here: http://transitionmassachusetts.ning.com/forum/topics/lets-strengthen-our-transition

It may be a bit far afield for you, but here is info about an interesting event to take place next Wednesday in Framingham that I look forward to: http://transitionmassachusetts.ning.com/events/climate-change-peak

Best wishes,
Conrad
