Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
2-day T4T training completed 11/08; providing services with my venture, Applied Ecologics; blogging at http://blog.interdependencedesign.com/ and at http://woburnite.com/blog/5
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I am a "sower" and "husband" of sustainability vision for entities of all kinds. "Where there is no vision, the people perish."

In the vision, local returns to the foreground
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
By inserting what "headquarters" overlooks and leaves to chance. My focus is on transforming initiatives' hope for cohesion into vision, understanding and skill that will facilitate viable and ever-more-inclusive interdependence.

I am available to this movement as a communicator and guide and as an observer and designer. I welcome opportunities to write and speak of interdependence, resilience and sustainability.

I completed a permaculture design certification course in April 2010, completed the Massachusetts Forum for Creating Healthier Communities (2008-2009), am a NOFA-certified organic land care professional and am a BPI-certified building analyst.

A Teachable Moment

My latest blog at woburnite.com was sparked by the water pipe rupture that is depriving many Boston-area communities of safe tap water.

Resilience: Woburn Has Some, Let's Invest in More

Saturday afternoon we were home, either doing projects outdoors or indoors conversing with a journalist about our considerations of and…

Wanted: Fully Present and Productive Owners

The following is copied and pasted from my blog at woburnite.com

Because the name of my business is Applied Ecologics, I frequently startle people and activate their curiosity by simply stating it. From my angle, it's apparent they've heard something they were not expecting to hear. I see they sense it's something well-meaning, and likely beneficial, but that they cannot readily grasp. I try to help them understand, with… Continue

Last weekend I acquired http://blog.interdependencedesign.com/ and this week I've posted each day. I will slow down, unless you come and comment and question and otherwise nudge me. Come soon for a taste.

Thanks for pointing out that my message to Steve could be read by others. I have been using this site for awhile and was totally unaware of that.

Hey David, thanks! I like Ruckelshaus' quote in your blog, and your idea of emigrating to where we are.  Small steps ...

Thanks David. I'm from Oak Park, IL originally, now at Amherst College. My internship will run until just after that conference.  I would certainly attend, it looks exciting.

Swallowed by life! I'm trying to homestead, homeschool, learn permaculture design and stat a Transition Initiative in my town all at the same time. I realized the impossibility of this recently, so I've been focusing on getting through my class and spring planting for now, serious city-wide transition motion for later. You can have everything... just not all at once!

Another friend is always good!

Hello David,
Thank you for the message. I may be up in Randolph, VT next Sunday, but if I am in Putney I'd love to meet.

Hi David,
I'd love to come, but would have to bring along my 5-year-old, and strangely enough she is not keen on chatting about Transition, permaculture, etc. :)
Enjoy the fun!
