Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Just attended the Sept. potluck and looking to see where I can plug myself into the effort.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I've dedicated my formal education and work life to protecting our environment - admittedly for selfish reasons - I love the natural beauty of our world and I enjoy drinking clean water, breathing clean air and eating healthy foods. I identify with the Transition movement because it seems to recognize that sound environment planning isn't just saving fluffy bunnies - it makes economic and social sense -and ultimately isn't this what we are all striving for? - a way of life that creates and sustains communities with robust economies, vibrant cultures, and healthy environments.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
Not sure yet. I bring some experience in grass roots organizing and natural resource management and I've lived in some communities that are really pushing ideas which the Transition movement incorporates - and are really successful. I hope to bring use some of my experiences to help Newburyport transition itself into a sustainable city .

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the Transition Massachusetts networking and information site. It's great to hear that you were able to attend the potluck, and want to get more involved. I encourage you to join the Transition Newburyport group on this site. On the main page for that group are many links to more information about Transition around the world, and to news items about our local initiative.

Another great benefit of membership on this statewide site is the exchange of ideas found in the Forum. I encourage everyone to follow these discussions and to participate. To learn how to most easily follow discussions on the Forum, please read my post (in the Forum) titled "Let's Strengthen our Transition Massachusetts community."
