Facilitated by international climate experts (and Wayland residents) Janot Mendler de Suarez and Pablo Suarez. Where:…See More

Come hear Richard Heinberg: We all take economic growth for granted – until it falters, as in 2008. But what if the recent economic meltdown was not just an interruption in the story of continuous economic expansion, but the first sign of the end of growth as we know it?Will the convergence of financial instability, the end of cheap oil, and climate change usher in an era of contraction? In other words, do we have to adapt to a “new normal”?Traditional economic growth is not the best measure of…See More

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Working to start the New Economy Transition committee in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood in Boston.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I think we need to prepare for economic and ecological change. Working with "common security clubs" which are nice compliment to transitions, similar to the Home Groups mentioned in the Transition Handbook.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
Promoting transition events at the Jamaica Plain Forum (www.jamaicaplainforum.org) and through our larger national network of commons security clubs.

Welcome to the Transition Massachusetts networking and information site, which provides multiple opportunities to connect with and learn from others who share your interests and concerns. You can perhaps attract more members to your Jamaica Plain New Economy Transition group by sending a special invitation to all site members who list JP as their city. You can use this link to find them. Also, I recommend adding a (square) image to the group page, one that will evoke JP when people see it (at least for those who know).
Another great benefit of membership on this statewide site is the exchange of ideas found in the Forum. I encourage everyone to follow these discussions and to participate. To learn how to most easily follow discussions on the Forum, please read my post (in the Forum) titled "Let's Strengthen our Transition Massachusetts community." Click here to view that post directly. Implementing the simple changes described will make it easier to follow and participate in the conversations on this site.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
