Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Member of Transition Newburyport Initiating group.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
It isn't dependent on government, but each other. Requires the community to be involved and not just a committee of active members or board. It focuses on change from within the individual and growth of the local community as a unit.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I have always had a desire to be involved with change that occurs in our environment, government, economy and social misconceptions. I have long held a desire to be involved in actively changing how the world views itself. The last few years my desire has been growing. When a friend shared the Transition Town process with me I realized it was time to take action. It's a movement that I believe in and structured in a way that makes it all possible. It moves only through the involvement of every individual getting involved and seeing the need for change.

Inquiries Into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms, and Fertility Mattered

I just had to share this book with everyone. The following excerpt is the first chapter of Woody Tasch's Inquiries Into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms, and Fertility Mattered.

Every 250 years or so, it seems, we arrive at a threshold moment in the history of capital and culture.

In 1500, two men in Amsterdam stood on a bridge over a canal, designing the joint stock company, minimizing… Continue

A day in time!

Today felt like the Theme from "Endless Summer", all day. You just don't want it to end. I feel like Jon and I really pulled the trigger on this Transition Initiative for ourselves. Here we are, on the cusp of a "great awakening of civilization". Jumping in with both feet hoping beyond all things that it is not yet too late for Planet Earth. Ready to give it all I've got! To create a new conscious reality! A Revolution thru knowledge!

A wise man told me this morning a saying from… Continue

Hi Ben!
I did indeed! You guys were really inspiring and sparked a real interest and desire on my part to learn more about the TT movement. In the little bit of free time that I've had, I've been trying to learn more about it. Thank you for coming to Clark and sharing your experience with us students. Hope your foot is better = )

Ben - It looks like the great reskilling list is already on the MASS page - look in forums, way down under everything! Thanks for the reconfiguration idea - that would be really helpful and make the site a lot more likely to be read ( by me) on a regular basis. I'm up for a gathering as well! Valerie
