Comment by Daniel Ritchie on July 4, 2011 at 1:48pm Hi Tom and Rebecca,
I'm on the Transition Northampton Initiating Committee and just wanted to let you know also that several members of the Initiating Committee will be attending the training with you. It will, of course, be a great chance to network with others interested in Transition. In the next couple weeks following the training we are planning a meeting to help people get further plugged in and involved - your enthusiasm and interest is very welcome.
Comment by mona on July 4, 2011 at 8:59am Hi to all who are interested in the up coming Transition Town Training.
I have a flyer and can connect any of you to the google groups. Like Jen, I too have served on the Initiating Committee, done the training and have been involved in the very recent past. So, if you are interested in the full e-mail, flyer, please reply - send me your e-mail & do as Jen suggested. There are alot of grass root groups in this area. You'll eventually find what you are looking for. When you sign up for the transition northampton google group - I can send you a whole list of sites, video information & connections that we send out to new people who join the group. We mostly use this list-serve for announcement and community events or help needed. So go to:

all the best,
mona
Just so you all know, I'm not sure that anyone in Transition Northampton is regularly monitoring this site. (I think some of the folks currently doing active outreach may not even be subscribed to this site at all.) I'm not part of the initiating committee (I was about two years ago, but then my energy got completely diverted to Grow Food Northampton). As far as I can tell, most of the activity is over at the Transition Northampton Google Group, which is at http://groups.google.com/group/transitionnorthampton/ , so I suggest signing up there to receive email updates. From what I hear, there are definitely more than 3 people going to the Training for Transition.
There's no one place online where people are organizing around Transition. It gets confusing. I think it's really key to at least pin down some opportunities to meet people face-to-face.
Comment by Tom Mazur on July 3, 2011 at 10:18pm I would like to hear any ideas about how we can lure them back.
well, I would very much like to have some ideas-- so I will keep my thinking cap on!
this seems a natural place to me, and so Im bewildered why not so for everyone else...
as it is, just posting might do the trick-- and this is tricky, because one could feel like a voice in a wilderness at times on the web-- posting posting with no replies-- but there may have to be some sort of faith that "if you post it, they will respond", and keep posting anyway--
thats all I got for now--
thanks for coning in here Conrad- thats JUST what I mean!!!
Comment by Conrad Willeman on July 3, 2011 at 9:59pm There are so many different places people can respond to event "invitations" on the web (here, FB, TransitionUS, etc.) that not one of them gives an accurate indication in advance of how many people are likely to turn up.
It's good to hear, Tom, that you at least like this site. It could certainly serve as a unifying force for Transition in our state, but only if everyone involved would use it. I'm afraid far too many people have been drawn away to the alternatives. I would like to hear any ideas about how we can lure them back.
Comment by Tom Mazur on July 3, 2011 at 9:57pm excellent!
that has all the info I would need-- thank you!
I watched the crash course at the very same time I first heard of TT, back in 2008- I went ahead and changed some things in my life since then...
(hey, I just remembered, we have a new calf come into the world today- a young hef-- thats the sort of thing I never would have caught myself excited about back in 2007 :))
Comment by Rebecca Mountain on July 3, 2011 at 9:43pm Sorry about that. I could have just sent you this link: http://www.transitionus.org/event/training-transition-northampton-ma
I do not use fb the way it was intended. I rarely post a "status update" but l have it set up so I get sort of a news feed of info I find interesting or important. Richard Heinberg, Chris Martinson, Post Carbon Institute are a few.
Comment by Tom Mazur on July 3, 2011 at 9:36pm Oh no!
Im "one of those"
those who refuse to do facebook--
I cant go to those sites unless I sign up and log in-- and, and, and... I have issues with that-- sorry to say (or maybe, not so sorry really)
maybe you or someone here can message me with some more details?
sorry, again
yes, the TT thing is confusing on the web-- I like this site we are on-- its well done, it seems VERY friendly and intelligent-- but, just not enough people around day to day-- please dont tell me they are all on FB? -- (someday, you will all understand too, why one might not want to do facebook *jocular snickering heard in background*)
Comment by Rebecca Mountain on July 3, 2011 at 9:15pm Oh! Here it is. http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=132946136786292
I heard about it through the Transition U.S. Facebook page.
http://www.facebook.com/#!/TransitionUS
Honestly, there are so many transition websites I find it rather confusing.
Comment by Tom Mazur on July 3, 2011 at 9:10pm only 3 people rsvp'd
well now, see?
Im very behind the times here-- where do you know of this? do you have a link to share here? Im only aware of the event via an email that someone sent me--and even at that, I really dont know yet WHERE it is in Northampton!
