Hi Ben, Thanks for your response! And hello Jen, thanks for your suggestions!

I am a new member and looking forward to the movie screening on the 26th about the Transition movement! I have been reading everything I can get my hands on about Peak Oil. I hope to learn more about how I can help this local movement, in terms of what is happening now, and how to move things forward in the future. Skills that I can offer include writing, speaking, coordinating. If assistance is needed in organizing the meetings, please let me know. I look forward to meeting members, learning what I can do, and rolling up my sleeves to get to work. I will be sureto also check the facebook page regularly for other upcoming events!

If anyone wants to contact me directly, my email is webster.bethany08@gmail.com. Thanks!

Just wanted to make sure people saw that Mona posted an event taking place in Northampton next Wednesday, a film showing... I'm not sure how people are using this Ning (do you subscribe to comments?  check in from time to time? look at events?)-- I'm finding that depending on how people use the site, you can either feel more connected or miss things.  That's also why I was emphasizing previously the importance of signing up for the Google Group.

Hi folks,

Although I haven't been in a leadership position with Transition Northampton for the past year or so, I know that the most used forum is the Google Group, so I highly suggest signing up for it and posting questions there. (http://groups.google.com/group/transitionnorthampton/)  I have no idea if meetings are taking place or when or where, but it would be helpful to post to the Google Group so that the leadership actually knows that these questions exist.  My sense is that the current leaders are not monitoring this space on Transition Massachusetts at all.  My own time is completely consumed by Grow Food Northampton at the moment, so I've been unable to keep up with the activities of Transition Northampton specifically (although Grow Food is deeply allied with Transition).

My personal suggestion would be to ask the following questions: are meetings happening regularly?  What are the specific details?  If not, why not?  Is there someone currently managing communications?

If things are not happening in a coordinated way, it may be helpful to jump in and say, Hey, this is something I think is really important, how can I help?

Hi Bethany,

I struggled recently to find out the time of the next meeting, and still haven't found out, actually.  But I did find out that the Facebook page is much more used than this site.  Facebook might direct you to Transition Northampton in the UK though, so try this link for the USA Northampton one -

hope to see you at a meeting!  good luck!

I would like to know if there is a place/community/tribe that already exist that is self sustaining/off the grid and is available for my family. To see my family go tohttp://www.gorgeousgurus.com/ We currently live in Florence. I would like to find others who walk the talk.

Lovingly, Eron

Hi all:

Mainly interested in learning more about the group.  Long range plans are to start a group in Belchertown.

Some of our announcements for Transition Northampton are posted on Facebook's "Transition Northampton" page: - so please, join us there, too.
Also, sign up for our google list serve: TransitionNorthampton@googlegroups.com
Our next meeting will be in Sept...it will be know soon and up on the other sites sooner than this one.
* Also, hoping everyone gets to see today's front-page of the Gazette Newspaper, there's an article about Transition, mostly about Northampton. The journalist, Steve Pfarrer, did a thoughtful job... there's both Lundy & Barbara featured, so go out and buy one.
