The Discussion Forum provides tools to organize full conversations. Reply to an existing topic or use the Add a Discussion link to start to new topic. Click the View All link at the bottom of the small Discussion Forum window below to open a window listing all discussions. At the bottom of that window click the 'Follow' link to be notified by email whenever a new discussion is posted. To follow an individual discussion topic either reply, or click the Follow link for that discussion. The Ning system leaves these settings off by default, so that new users will not be flooded with email. You must consciously turn on the Follow options.
The Comment Wall is appropriate for quick notifications.
The Send Message to Group link is self-explanatory. An email message will be sent to all members of the group, but a copy of that message is not saved on the site.
