Event Description

Rex Tillerson, CEO of ExxonMobil was selected at this year's WPI graduation ceremony. WPI Students for a Just and Stable Future and many others were deeply opposed to this choice and what it represents for their future. After three contentious weeks, they are glad to announce that they've arranged for an alternate commencement address right after the official ceremony and that WPI is on board with the arrangements.

Richard Heinberg, Senior Fellow in Residence at the Post Carbon Institute will be deliver a Counterpoint Commencement address at 3:00, open to the public.

Still not sure if I can make it, but I'm so glad you posted this here, Conrad.  I really, really hope as many people as possible will go to show support for these WPI students who need to see our faces and to know, at a deep level, that their activism makes a difference, to know that they are part of a much larger global movement, to know that the resistance of their university administration and the griping comments of unsympathetic fellow students does NOT represent the sum total of opinion on this on a state-wide basis!
